Questions of Brahmā Excellent Thought Sutra ［思益梵天所問経］ (Chin Ssu-i-fan-t’ien-so-wen-ching;  Shiyaku-bonten-shomon-gyō): Abbreviated as the Brahmā Excellent Thought Sutra. The Chinese version of the non-extant Sanskrit sutra translated by Kumārajīva in 402. This sutra is cited in many Mahayana treatises, including The Treatise on the Great Perfection of Wisdom attributed to Nāgārjuna (c. 150–250). There are two other Chinese translations, one by Dharmaraksha in 286 and the other by Bodhiruchi in the early sixth century, as well as a Tibetan translation. It tells of a Brahmā king named Excellent Thought who comes to the sahā world from an eastern realm of the universe and listens to Shakyamuni Buddha’s preaching of the bodhisattva way. The sutra explains the doctrines of non-substantiality and non-duality.
