Jnānaprabha [智光] (n.d.) (; Chikō): A leading disciple of Shīlabhadra who lived in the state of Magadha in central India around the seventh century. Jnānaprabha studied Buddhism at Nālandā Monastery. Well versed in both Hinayana and Mahayana teachings and non-Buddhist literature, he was famous throughout India. He is said to have later followed Nāgārjuna’s doctrine of the Middle Way and debated with his former teacher, Shīlabhadra, who belonged to the Consciousness-Only school.
