Varshakāra [雨行大臣] (; Ugyō-daijin): A minister who served King Ajātashatru in the kingdom of Magadha in ancient India in the time of Shakyamuni Buddha. When Ajātashatru was still a prince, Varshakāra conspired with Devadatta and instigated the prince to kill King Bimbisāra, his father and a lay supporter of Shakyamuni. Varshakāra also encouraged King Ajātashatru to harass Shakyamuni Buddha. Later, however, he repented and converted to Buddhism along with Ajātashatru and assisted him in administering the kingdom.
