kalavinka (kalaviṅka) A bird with a very melodious voice found in the valleys of the Himalayas.

kalpa An extremely long period of time.

Katyayana (Kātyāyana) See Mahakatyayana.

Kaundinya (Kauṇḍinya) See Ajnata Kaundinya.

kimnara (kiṃnara) A type of heavenly being who excels in singing and dancing, one of the eight kinds of nonhuman beings who protect Buddhism.

kimshuka (kiṃśuka) jewel A red gem, probably a ruby.

kritya (kṛtya) A kind of demon.

Kshatriya (Kṣatriya) The second highest of the four classes, or castes, in ancient India, just below the Brahmans, or priestly class. Its members were nobles and warriors, and they were the rulers in secular affairs.

kumbhanda (kumbhāṇḍa) A kind of evil spirit.
