Invincible [無勝童子] ( Mushō-dōji): The boy Invincible. A child who, together with the boy Virtue Victorious, offered a mud pie to Shakyamuni Buddha as a gesture of sincerity when the Buddha was begging in Rājagriha. It is said that by virtue of this offering, one hundred years after the Buddha’s death, the boy Virtue Victorious was reborn as King Ashoka and the boy Invincible as his consort. This story appears in The Story of King Ashoka, translated into Chinese by An Fa-ch’in in 306.
