Harsha ［戒日王］ (;  Kainichi-ō): Also known as Shīlāditya. An Indian king who established an empire that included most of northern India in the seventh century. At first an adherent of Hinduism, he later converted to Buddhism, and built many temples and stupas, and is said to have governed compassionately based on Buddhist principles. See Shīlāditya.
