Nāgabodhi [竜智] (n.d.) (; Ryūchi): A native of southern India regarded as the fourth in the lineage of the transfer of Esoteric Buddhism. According to the True Word ( Shingon) school, he inherited Esoteric Buddhism from Nāgārjuna and transferred it to Chin-kang-chih ( Vajrabodhi), although it is difficult to distinguish fact from legend concerning this and other details about his life. Nāgārjuna is said to have transferred the esoteric teachings to Nāgabodhi and the exoteric teachings to Āryadeva. Nāgabodhi is said to have lived for hundreds of years.
