Uruvilvā Kāshyapa [優楼頻螺迦葉] (; Pali Uruvelā Kassapa; Urubinra-kashō): One of Shakyamuni Buddha’s early converts. Before conversion, he is said to have practiced fire worship. When the Buddha went to Uruvilvā to preach, Uruvilvā Kāshyapa, together with his two brothers, Nadī Kāshyapa and Gayā Kāshyapa, became his follower. All three brothers were leaders among Brahman ascetics, and when Uruvilvā Kāshyapa converted, his five hundred disciples followed suit.
