Auspicious [吉祥天] ( Shrīmahādevī or Mahāshrī; Kichijō-ten): Originally a goddess of Indian mythology named Lakshmī, later incorporated into Buddhism. Auspicious is known as the goddess of fortune and beauty, and is said to bestow fortune and benefit on living beings. In Japan, prayers for peace and agricultural fertility were offered to the goddess. Some sources regard her as a daughter of Mother of Demon Children and the wife of Vaishravana, one of the four heavenly kings.
