good man [善男子] ( kula-putra; zen-nanshi): In the Buddhist scriptures, a man of correct faith. The Sanskrit kula-putra means son of a noble family, young man of a good family, or virtuous and noble man. The phrase “good man and good woman ( kula-duhitri) “ also appears. “Good man” generally refers to a male lay believer, and also a bodhisattva. Buddhist scriptures record Shakyamuni as addressing bodhisattvas with the phrase “good men.”
