dvīpa ［洲］ (; Pali dīpa;  shū): Island or continent. According to the ancient Indian worldview, four dvīpas, or continents, surround Mount Sumeru, which is the center of the world. One continent, Jambudvīpa, situated south of Mount Sumeru, is the continent or island of the jambu trees and refers to the world where we live.
