Dhammapada [法句経] (Pali; Hokku-kyō): The second text in the Khuddaka-nikāya (minor sutras) of the Sutta Pitaka (Basket of Discourse). Dhammapada means words of truth. The Dhammapada, which contains 423 stanzas in 26 chapters, is an anthology of religious and ethical sayings, used in the countries of Theravāda Buddhism such as Sri Lanka. The Chinese title is Fa-chü-ching (Words of Truth Sutra). Its translations include the English version by Max Müller and the German version by Karl Eugen Neumann. See also Words of Truth Sutra.
