Essentials of “The Fourfold Rules of Discipline,” The [四分律行事鈔] (Chin Ssu-fen-lü-hsing-shih-ch’ao; Shibun-ritsu-gyōji-shō): A commentary on The Fourfold Rules of Discipline written in 630 by Tao-hsüan, the founder of the Nan-shan branch of the Precepts (Lü) school in China. This work is regarded as one of the fundamental scriptures of the Nan-shan branch. It exerted a great influence on the establishment of the code of conduct for priests, and many subcommentaries on it were produced.
