Fo-lung-ssu [仏隴寺] (PY Folongsi; Butsurō-ji): Also known as Fo-lung Monastery. A temple of the T’ien-t’ai school located on the southwest peak of Mount T’ien-t’ai in China, founded by T’ien-t’ai in 575. It was later renamed Hsiu-ch’an-ssu. Dengyō, who later became the founder of the Japanese Tendai school, traveled to China at the beginning of the ninth century and received the transmission of the T’ien-t’ai teachings from Hsing-man, the chief priest of this temple.
