Treatise on the Buddha Nature, The [仏性論] (Chin Fo-hsing-lun; Busshō-ron): A work attributed to Vasubandhu and translated into Chinese by Paramārtha in the sixth century. It cites various passages from the Lotus and Shrīmālā sutras as well as from The Treatise on the Stages of Yoga Practice, and explains in considerable detail the theory of the Buddha nature. It proclaims the universality of the Buddha nature and refutes contrary views held by non-Buddhist scholars as well as Hinayana and Mahayana Buddhist scholars.
