Takahashi Rokurō Hyōe, the lay priest [高橋六郎兵衛入道] (n.d.) ( Takahashi Rokurō Hyōe-nyūdō): A follower of Nichiren (1222–1282), also known as the lay priest Takahashi. He lived in Kajima in Fuji District of Suruga Province, Japan. His wife was an aunt of Nikkō, Nichiren’s disciple and designated successor who converted him to Nichiren’s teachings. A letter to Takahashi from Nichiren entrusts him with the responsibility of propagation in the area where he was living, which would indicate that he enjoyed Nichiren’s trust and was a leading figure among the lay believers in Fuji District.
