ten kinds of offerings [十種供養] ( jisshu-kuyō): Offerings described in the “Teacher of the Law” (tenth) chapter of the Lotus Sutra. They are offerings of flowers, incense, necklaces, powdered incense, paste incense, incense for burning, silken canopies, streamers and banners, clothing, and music. Another interpretation regards “silken canopies” and “streamers and banners” as one offering, and instead adds the act of pressing one’s palms together, mentioned immediately after “music” in the sutra text, as the tenth offering.
