Shun-hsiao [順暁] (n.d.) (PY Shunxiao; Jungyō): A priest of Esoteric Buddhism in China. After renouncing secular life, he became a student of I-lin, who was a disciple of Shan-wu-wei ( Shubhakarasimha), and lived at Ling-yen-ssu temple. Later he moved to Lung-hsing-ssu temple. It is said that he imparted the doctrines of Esoteric Buddhism to Dengyō, who later founded the Japanese Tendai school, when Dengyō visited China in 804.
