Samghayashas [僧伽耶舎] (n.d.) (; Sōgyayasha): A monk of Magadha in India regarded as the seventeenth of Shakyamuni Buddha’s twenty-three, or the eighteenth of his twenty-four, successors. Described as wise and eloquent, Samghayashas was entrusted with the Buddha’s teachings by Samghanandi and later transmitted them to Kumārata.
