Sutra on the Conversion of Barbarians by Lao Tzu [老子化胡経] (Chin Lao-tzu-hua-hu-ching; Rōshi-keko-kyō): A fictitious sutra written by Wang Fu, a Taoist of the Western Chin dynasty (265–316) of China with the intention of asserting the superiority of Taoism over Buddhism. According to this work, Lao Tzu, regarded as the founder of Taoism, traveled back and forth between China and India by means of his supernatural powers, instructing more than eighty kings in the western regions. It also asserts that Shakyamuni was instructed by Lao Tzu.
